How we make a verdict

Evidence tiers

• SLP-endorsed — reviewed or produced with input from a speech-language pathologist.
• Expert-endorsed (2+ sources) — two or more independent child-development or education specialists have reviewed it favorably.
• Curriculum-aligned — content maps to a named early-years curriculum (phonics, numeracy) rather than incidental learning.
• Community-recommended — parents recommend it consistently, but we haven't found a formal expert review. Shown visibly lighter — it's a real signal, but a thinner one.

Verdict criteria

Recommended — strong evidence tier, pace appropriate to age, no material red flags.

OK with care — genuine educational value alongside a real concern (pace, consumerism); worth co-viewing and limiting.

Avoid — pacing or content runs clearly against expert guidance for the stated age, even without proof of direct harm.

What "our check" means

A reviewer watches a minimum of five full episodes, times cuts-per-minute by hand, and cross-references at least two independent outside reviews before writing the verdict paragraph in their own words.

Review freshness

Every entry is re-reviewed at least once every 12 months, or immediately if a channel changes format, ownership, or is flagged by a reader.
